MD5 Hash

screen shot [4.42 KB]This is a simple utility that will calculate the MD5 hash of a given file. It features a progress bar during calculation and a text field from which the final MD5 hash can be easily copied to the clipboard. Run the program to display a standard Open dialog box to choose a file to hash, or drop a file on MD5.exe to hash that file. You can also put MD5 Hash on your Explorer context menu by checking "Context Menu Association" on the system menu of the hash window. This utility is available in both ANSI and Unicode versions, and has no dependencies on any libraries beyond those included with Windows. The Unicode version supports Windows XP visual styles and Unicode file names.

This utility conforms to the MD5 specification set forth in IETF RFC1321.

Updates: (released 23-Jul-2003)

  • Added a "Context Menu Association" option on the system menu (click the icon in the upper left of the hash window)
